HIGHVOLT was present at the International Association TRAVEK in Moscow from June 21
to 22, 2011. TRAVEK is an international scientific and technical conference of
transformers, high voltage equipment, electrical ceramics and other spare parts
and materials. Experts from all over the world registered for this event.
Dr. Winter, Manager Sales of HIGHVOLT, also participated in the conference and gave
a lecture about "State of the art routine test fields for power transformers".
After the conference he drew a positive balance: "We had the opportunity to exchange
views and experiences, establish new contacts, and engage in useful discussions.
Altogether, I am looking forward to the next TRAVEK".

On May 19 and 20, 2011 the sixth HIGHVOLT KOLLOQUIUM took place. 250 participants gathered in the congress center, Dresden, to get information about new technologies and trends in the area of high-voltage technology. The program also included a visit to the HIGHVOLT factory, where the participants got the chance to gain an impression how high-voltage test systems are manufactured.

This year's program offered various lectures on the subject of "Testing and Measuring on Electric High-Voltage Equipment". 27 lecturers reported about growing importance of on-site testing of cables, transformers, and gas-insulated switchgears. The challenges and solutions in the field of factory routine tests were also subjects of discussion. The participants and lecturers represented power supply companies, diverse manufacturers of the industry sector and universities for example from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands and Czech Republic.
On the second day, HIGHVOLT opened its doors to the visitors to show and explain innovations, such as the mobile transformer test system or an impulse test system with connection point.
The cultural program - culinary delicacies and a diversified light entertainment program with chamber music and a fire show - completed the colloquium.
"A very well organized colloquium, transferring a lot of information" - was the overall feedback of the participants at the end of the event.
The proceedings with 32 articles (236 pages) have been published in English
( > index of contents ) and they can be ordered under > sales@highvolt.de
The proceedings are available for EUR 33.-- / per piece (incl. shipping and handling).
We still have some remainders from the HIGHVOLT KOLLOQUIUM of the years 1999 and 2003 (only German proceedings), and 2007 (English proceedings) on stock. They are also available for EUR 33.-- / per piece (incl. shipping and handling) and can be ordered under the same email address.

HIGHVOLT is represented by 36 agencies worldwide to support our customers locally. With our well trained representatives we are one step ahead to provide innovative products and customized solutions especially when realizing complex projects, for example entire test bays. To keep our representatives up-to-date they were trained during the HIGHVOLT Representative Seminar in Dresden, Germany from 15 to 17 June 2010. We provided information about new trends in HV-test technology and gave examples for our worldwide expansion as a leading manufacturer of components but also of complex HV test bays. Furthermore a new HIGHVOLT product, our next generation of overall control system, the HIGHVOLT Suite® was been introduced. The HIGHVOLT Suite® is a new software which operates several test systems and measurement devices via an intuitive fully automatic control unit using a standard user interface. As an advantage, test measurement results can be compiled in a centralized database. This means less work, fewer errors and time saving testing procedures. The highlight of the Representative Seminar was the dinner at the Lingner Castle with a spectacular view over the Elbe River. We thank our representatives for their continuing support and contribution to maintain our market leadership.

In May 2010, 180 customers have visited the HIGHVOLT workshop in the course of the "OMICRON Anwendertagung" in Dresden. HIGHVOLT, the leading supplier of high voltage and high current test and measuring systems, offered a tour through its premises. The highlights were the demonstration of the mobile test system for on-site testing of power transformers based on a static frequency converter and the mobile AC resonant test system with variable frequency.

Welcoming our customers
The AC resonant test systems with variable frequency for on-site testing of cables are successfully in use all over the world. On the occasion of the 100th delivered test system worldwide, HIGHVOLT invited their customers to a workshop to exchange their experiences in the field of on-site cable testing from September 24 to 25, 2009. 32 participants from 12 countries came to the HIGHVOLT factory in Dresden, Germany, taking the opportunity to discuss actual trends and innovations, for instance testing of extremely long land and sea cables.

Today, May 7 2009, HIGHVOLT officially inaugurated the new office building and the new factory workshop. At the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister of Saxony Stanislaw Tillich together with Dr. Bernd Kübler, General Manager of HIGHVOLT and Michael Rohde, General Manager of the holding company Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen, successfully tested the first mobile cable test system which had been manufactured at the new facility.

Since HIGHVOLT has been facing an increased order income, the company decided to invest 9 Million Euro for the extension its manufacturing capacities at the company's site in Dresden. The new 3800 m² state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and the three-story office building will provide sufficient room for the engineering and manufacturing of high-voltage and high-current test systems. This major investment does not only reflect the continuing success story of HIGHVOLT but also underlines the company's commitment to Dresden as a location for industry.

As a leading manufacturer in the field of high voltage testing, HIGHVOLT also sets value on supporting young academics and engineers. This is why - for the first time - HIGHVOLT donated an award for the best diploma thesis in the field of electrical engineering at the University of Dresden. We congratulate Mr. Nils Lücke, who won the award for his thesis on "long-term behavior of electrical copper-beryllium contacts depending on stress relaxation". The award is endowed with prize money of 1,000 Euros.

HIGHVOLT recently completed the development of the second generation of mobile test systems for on-site testing of power transformers. The new transformer test system is able to test power transformers up to 500 MVA according to all relevant IEC standards. The complete HV test system consists of two subsystems. The system for induced voltage and no-load loss tests is installed in a 40 foot container. The components of the applied voltage test system can be installed on a trailer or alternatively in a 20 foot container. The HV test system is characterized by a compact and robust design and enables tests after installation and after a repair job.
