Superlange DC-Kabel - Chance oder Risiko?

Datum: 15.07.2020

Zeit: 17:00 Uhr

Dr. Florian Martin
TenneT

Statement

Is an on-site AC+PD after installation testing for ultra-long DC cable links reasonable in addition to the obligatorily DC test? How many installation failures can be identified with and without? Is a DC PD measurement for monitoring purposes state of the art? What else can be helpful to increase the availability of such links?

Vita

Florian Martin has studied Electrical Engineering High Voltage Technology and obtained the engineering degree from the University of Karlruhe (TH) in 2003. Until 2008 he made his Phd in a cooperation between HighVolt and the Karlsruher Institue of Technology (KIT) “High Voltage Test System based on Power Electronic Frequency Converter”. Since then he has been with TenneT TSO GmbH (formerly E.ON Netz). Starting as a specialist for reactive power compensation for substation applications. Starting in 2013 with a first management functionality he has been responsible for different technical departments in the meanwhile. July 2020 he will be Head of Corporate Asset Technology within Asset Management and herewith the technical governance for all equipment TenneT TSO uses in the Dutch and German on- and offshore grid.

Tullio Sturchio
Responsible for Technical School and Services – R&D
PRYSMIAN SpA

Statement

The test on very long length is always a challenge that every electrical engineer should do.

Vita

Mr. Sturchio degreed in Rome University as Electrical Engineer. From October 2018 up to now he is working in R&D Department of PrysmianGroup with the role of Responsible for Technical School and Services. From 1998 up to September 2018 he has been working in Prysmian Powerlink, both Milan HQ and Arco Felice Factory, in the business of the Submarine Cable System, with the different roles.

Thomas Steiner
Technical Director
HIGHVOLT Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH

Statement

The inventive spirit and new technical solutions have shaped Germany in the past. With the project to install super long DC cables in Germany, we can once again set standards with our worldwide partners. It is important to consider the physics and minimize the risks. How can this be achieved?

Vita

Mr. Thomas Steiner studied electrical engineering from 1986 to 1990 at the Coburg University of Applied Sciences, majoring in informatics. He began his professional career in 1990 as a development engineer at Dr. Strauss GmbH. In 1994 he founded the world's first DKD (Deutscher Kalibrierdienst, today DAkkS) calibration laboratory for the pulse calibration of transient recorders for Dr. Strauss GmbH and managed it until the end of 2004.
In 2005 he changes to HIGHVOLT Prüftechnik GmbH as team leader for measurement technology. At the same time he started working in various committees such as IEC TC42, CIGRE D1, ETG and VDE Bezirksverein Dresden as an advisor to the board.
In 2007 he took over the technical management (Technical Director) of HIGHVOLT Prüftechnik GmbH.
Within the scope of these activities, more than 10 patents and many test and measurement systems based on new technical ideas were developed under his leadership (e.g. DC test systems, test reactors, converter-based test systems, water resistances, transient recorders and power measurement systems).
Since 2008 he represents Germany as speaker of TC42 (HV Test and Measuring Techniques).  Mr. Steiner is convener of the working groups TC42 WG21 (IEC 61083-3, HV Test Techniques: Requirements for instruments for tests with alternating and direct currents and voltages), TC42 MT04 (IEC 60060-1, High-Voltage test techniques: Part 1: General definitions and test requirements) and TC42 MT13 (IEC 60060-3, High-Voltage test techniques: Part 3: Definitions and Requirements for On-Site Testing).
Since August 2019, he has been Technical Director and authorized signatory of HIGHVOLT Prüftechnik GmbH.
