VACUTAP® VM® Refurbishment in Tasmania

As in most years, the last quarter is proving to be the busiest time for Reinhausen Australia’s (RA) service department.

In September 2013, another milestone for the VACUTAP® VM was set when the service team completely refurbished the selectors, installed new oil vessels and retrofitted 3 x VM 1200 diverter switch inserts in the existing OILTAP® Type M OLTC’s for an industrial customer based in Tasmania, Australia.

In October 2014, the service team returned to inspect the inserts which had successfully completed 300,000 operations in just one year. On inspection, the service engineers found that the switches looked virtually as new as when they were installed one year before. This is an amazing average of 820 operations per day – maintenance free!

Another first in Reinhausen Australia’s service department history occurred in October 2014, when all of RA’s service resources – four service technicians – as well as one visiting MR technician found themselves working in the small island state of Tasmania at the same time, servicing two MR OLTCs at an industrial customer and one at a network customer.
