On-site testing for wind-power transformers
In recent years, the wind energy capacity has grown enormously. Already more than 198 TW were installed in 2014, by the end of 2017 this number rose to almost 540 TW. As in other countries, wind power in Germany is a key factor in energy produc-tion, forming the second largest part of generated energy.
Thomas Steiner recognized with the IEC 1906 Award
On September 9, 2019, several experts were recognized with the IEC 1906 Award in Frankfurt/Main for their outstanding knowledge and dedication to international standardization. Among the award winners was Thomas Steiner, Technical Director at HIGHVOLT.
HIGHVOLT-CEPCO signed mega-contract to equip the GCC Testing Laboratory in Dammam/Saudi Arabia
The overall package offered by HIGHVOLT and its long-standing local partner CEPCO saw them come out on top in the tender to equip the GCC testing laboratory. The companies were commissioned to act as full-range suppliers for the test facilities and medium voltage power supplies.
New HV test field at University of Applied Science Upper Austria
As part of an EU-funded project (Interreg project AB43), students and scientists are carrying out research to develop a high-voltage battery. The aim is to develop a reliable battery system that can be integrated directly into a medium-voltage DC system, creating high-performance units to store electrical energy, with excellent capacity at peak loads.
On-site testing of 66 kV subsea array cables
Offshore windfarms with extruded XLPE inter-array cables rated up to 66 kV will become increasingly common. IEC is anticipating the situation with a new standard – IEC 63026 (under development) – as a guideline for manufacturers, test service providers and operators. As a result, HIGHVOLT has developed a test system solution to meet these new requirements.
