The high-voltage road to honour
The winner of the 2018 HIGHVOLT Award has been announced. Michael Bauer will be enjoying this recognition and the 1,000 euros that come with it. The graduate from the Electrical Engineering course at the TU Dresden University of Technology received the prize for his diploma thesis on “Measuring pulsed currents in mineral insulating oil when pre-breakdown occurs”. The electrical engineer studied electrical breakdown and discharge mechanisms. His work focused on the particular challenges posed by loads from voltage surges.
HIGHVOLT exhibits its latest innovation at wire China
“Wire China” opens its doors to trade visitors from 26 to 29 September. Leading manufacturers, experts and political decision-makers meet at the most important trade fair for the cable industry in Asia.
CIGRE 2018: HIGHVOLT presents system for real-time fault location
Where is the fault? Searching for breakdowns in miles of medium-voltage and high-voltage cabling is a little bit like looking for a needle in a haystack. Previously, a fault could only be pinpointed offline after a malfunction had occurred. The measurement needed would then be complex and time-consuming, and often additional investigation was needed before the fault could be localized.
Vietnamese business delegation visits HIGHVOLT
On August 20, HIGHVOLT welcomed a delegation of 26 Vietnamese decision makers. The guests, mainly representatives of grid and power plant operators as well as universities, were informed about products and services of HIGHVOLT and the possibilities to increase energy efficiency in Vietnam's industrial production.
On good partnership
Almost 40 HIGHVOLT representatives from 33 countries met in Prague from 26 to 28 June. The three-day seminar focused on workshops and training courses on new products and services as well as lectures on current technologies and trends in high-voltage testing technology.
