In the 20th year of its existence, an exceptional honour has been conferred on HIGHVOLT Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH: at this year’s summit meeting for medium-sized German businesses, it was named one of the most innovative businesses in this sector by Ranga Yogeshwar.
The reasoning given was that “HIGHVOLT Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH is an impressive top innovator, especially in maintaining a close customer relationship”.
Managing Director Ralf Bergmann confirmed that “meeting the specific requirements of each of our customers is a central aspect of everything we do. We work very closely with customers, thus finding out exactly what they need and want. This often sparks new ideas, which our engineers and technicians can turn into new developments or improvements thanks to their outstanding expert knowledge”.
One example of the company’s innovation is the automated testing system DiTAS. The customers’ aim is to fully integrate high-voltage testing for distribution transformers into their manufacturing processes, saving time, money and effort. And that is just what HIGHVOLT has achieved by adding a motorised switch system to the high-voltage test system. DiTAS carries out the entire testing sequence fully automatically, and various customers around the world have already integrated it into their product cycle.
“Another reason for our success is that we constantly, stringently undertake improvements to our products and services. As a result, the whole market benefits from the fact that the experience we gain in practice tends to affect our product development processes too early, rather than too late”, adds Managing Director Bernhard Nick. One example is the mobile high-voltage test systems to check cables on the spot. HIGHVOLT brought them onto the market in the mid-1990s as AC voltage test systems with static convertors and a metal tank reactor. Now, there are several models, e.g. with an insulation case reactor and with a bar core reactor, which are also used to test switchgear and transformers.
The two managing directors agree that “it is the joint efforts of everyone working here that HIGHVOLT has to thank for being awarded the ‘Top 100’ seal of approval”, and promise that “We do not only want to be innovative, we want to stay innovative. That is why we are so delighted about this honour today – but will be back at work again tomorrow coming up with new ideas for our customers”.
