Electrifying insights for night owls – HIGHVOLT takes part in the Long Night of Industry for the third time

Press Release

As in previous years, the visitors were especially impressed by the towering, almost futuristic test systems. One highlight was a demonstration of various high voltage experiments, yielding a series of loud bangs and flashing arcs. HIGHVOLT engineer Philipp Moritz, for example, sent an artificial bolt of lightning into a model of the Saxon State Chancellery building. Dresden, 22 June 2017

HIGHVOLT Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH opened its doors for the registered guests in the late afternoon. Around 100 local citizens took the opportunity to glance behind the scenes at one of Dresden's longstanding industrial enterprises. HIGHVOLT provided a broad scope of information about high voltage testing and explained why such technology is so important to safeguard our daily electricity supplies. During a tour of the factory, the visitors also gained first-hand impressions of the individual manufacturing stages

“One of the ideas behind our participation in the so-called ‘Long Night of Industry’ is to promote wider awareness for the world of electrical engineering, and here in particular for the high-voltage power sector,” says managing director Dr. Ralf Bergmann. “Accordingly, we were extremely pleased to be able to welcome numerous vocational college and university students again this year,” he continues.

The company location in Dresden has been a place of research, development and manufacture for over 110 years. The outcome is a whole range of high voltage test systems, which HIGHVOLT's customers use to test their power generation and transmission systems, for example high voltage cables, electrical switchgear and transformers, and thus at the end of the day to safeguard reliable energy supplies to industry and consumers.
