Dresden, 8 September 2017

The International Symposium on High Voltage Engineering (ISH) took place from 28 August to 1 September 2017. HIGHVOLT’s attendance was a success in more ways than one. Presenting a newly developed mobile system for testing wind-power and distribution transformers on-site, HIGHVOLT once again demonstrated its leading international position as an innovator.

“Generating and transmitting electrical energy is a topic of discussion around the world. With our compact, flexible testing system, we have a low-cost means of directly evaluating the condition of wind-power and distribution transformers on-site and, if necessary, carrying out a fault analysis” said Thomas Steiner, Chief Technology Officer at HIGHVOLT.
The topic of the second HIGHVOLT presentation was harmonic distortion testing for the high-voltage components used in power grids. The HIGHVOLT engineers’ recommendations on how best to carry out this test were confirmed by other specialists in this sector, who had come to the same conclusions.

Another point which came to light was that support in the form of events such as the ISH is extremely important when it comes to the international transfer of knowledge. “Many challenges in the field of energy supply – key words include “ecology” and “reliable supply” – can only be solved by means of global cooperation. As the main sponsor of this year’s ISH, we have played a part in enabling specialists and early-career scientists from all over the world to share in this knowledge and contribute their own findings”, Thomas Steiner concluded.
