This year, Florian Müller has the pleasure of receiving the 1,000-euro HIGHVOLT Award for the best electrical engineering diploma thesis at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG).

The engineering graduate from the Electrical Energy Systems research group wrote his thesis on the topic of implementing weather-based dynamic line rating in a selected 110 kV overhead line on an 80°C route. It describes a procedure for increasing the power capacity of existing transmission lines. On November 7, 2019, Müller was presented the HIGHVOLT Award for his outstanding work at an evening event held in the assembly room of Zittau City Hall as part of the Upper Lusatian Energy Symposium & Zittau Energy Seminar. HIGHVOLT CTO Thomas Steiner gave a laudatory speech and handed the award-winner a check and certificate.

HIGHVOLT has been promoting the next generation of electrical engineers in Saxony for many years now, especially in the field of high-voltage engineering. As well as the HIGHVOLT Award, the company also offers internships for students and supervises their theses.
