With an investment of around €9.4 million, HIGHVOLT has taken a further step in the successful development of the company. On 4th July, the new production hall in Dresden was officially inaugurated in the presence of well over 100 guests. Dresden's deputy mayor Dirk Hilbert, who heads the city's department for economic affairs, symbolically pressed the button to start up the new transformer drying plant.

“Industry is the motor for economic development in Dresden. This motor is not only running stably, it is also becoming ever more powerful. HIGHVOLT is a perfect example for such development,” Hilbert said. “I am very pleased for the city that HIGHVOLT is continuing such long-standing traditions, that it is investing and growing here. With a very high export ratio, the company and its employees are also ambassadors for the modern industrial location Dresden – thank you very much indeed for that!” The drying plant is the innovative heart of the new hall, and alone accounted for 25 per cent of the total investment sum.

“We received excellent support for our project from the City of Dresden,” said managing director Ralf Bergmann, drawing attention to the positive cooperation with the local authorities. “And Dresden is also backing the investment with a grant of almost €1.6 million.” The first sod was turned on the site in August last year. Subsequently, contractors predominantly from the local region helped to erect the over 2000 sq.m production hall in just 11 months.

This extension of its hall capacity is HIGHVOLT's reaction to the high worldwide demand for high-quality testing systems for high-voltage and high-current applications. “The enormous increase in orders over the past years meant that we were having to assemble and test the systems in the same hall,” said managing director Bernhard Nick. “Now, the test systems can be assembled exclusively in the new hall. That has not only enhanced our efficiency, it has also improved the working conditions for our employees.”

The company currently counts 216 employees and 6 trainees. HIGHVOLT supports programmes for cooperative engineer training (KIA), as well as studies at universities of cooperative  education. Particular importance is attached to cooperation with educational institutions and universities in the region.
