Around one hundred visitors explore the world of high voltage engineering - HIGHVOLT Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH participates in “Long Night of Industry” for the second time

Press Release

During a tour of the factory, HIGHVOLT was proud to inform its guests about a number of recent investments. Following completion of a new production hall in 2013 and extensive modernization measures in the high voltage test hall in 2014, HIGHVOLT has this year turned attention to a thorough renovation of the western facade of the hall. Erected over 60 years ago, the hall is a prominent Dresden landmark. It is considered a milestone of industrial architecture and is thus rightfully protected under a monument preservation order. Dresden, 23 June 2015

Lightning strikes, arcs and all manner of futuristic test systems – there was certainly plenty waiting to be discovered at HIGHVOLT Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH. Some one hundred visitors took the opportunity offered by the so-called “Long Night of Industry” in Dresden, which enabled ordinary citizens to gain a behind-the-scenes insight into the work of one of the city's longstanding industrial enterprises.

“As a company for which technological developments and innovation are absolutely decisive for success, we are very pleased to be able to participate in the Long Night of Industry. By opening our doors to members of the general public, we would like to promote an ever broader interest in technical processes in general, and in electrical engineering in particular,” says HIGHVOLT managing director Dr. Ralf Bergmann. “It was thus all the more satisfying for us to be able to welcome a significant number of university and vocational college students,” he continues.

The company location in Dresden has been a place of research, development and manufacture for over 110 years. The outcome is a whole family of high voltage test systems, which HIGHVOLT's customers use to test their power generation and transmission systems, for example high voltage cables, electrical switchgear and transformers, and thus at the end of the day to safeguard reliable energy supplies to industry and consumers.
