New trends for on-site testing of cables
Date: 01.07.2020

Resonant testing of HV cables became the preferred technical solution during the last decades. 20 years ago the usual cable length was 2 km, whereas today we face lengths up to 50 km and more, with increasing tendency. To cope with this development, the test circuit must be build up with more or bigger test systems. Besides discussing the practical implications of this development, we also like to focus on the influence of test parameters like frequency on the testable cable length as well as the interaction with the cable design, e.g. the sheet currents during testing.
